In Reading for Life, the focus is on accurate word recognition, structured decoding, fluency and comprehension through explicit, systematic teaching.

In Writing for Life, the focus is on sentence construction, compositional fluency and the clear organisation of ideas in written form.

These courses do not suggest that good reading automatically produces good writing. Instead, they show how reading provides models of language and structure, and how writing makes visible the specific gaps in transcription, language and sentence knowledge that teachers can address through explicit instruction.
