Lexicons for Life is a brand-new professional learning event with Lyn Stone, designed in response to educators’ requests for more live rehearsal, more real classroom guidance, and more time to work with the words that matter most to them.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all workshop, this course combines the most practical elements of Spelling for Life, Reading for Life, Writing for Life, and the Morphology Masterclass into a single high-impact session. It delivers what teachers have consistently asked for:
- Clear routines with real, contextual word study
- Practical demonstrations of morphology, spelling conventions, and etymology
- A collaborative focus on what this looks like in actual classrooms, with actual students
Why This Event?
Every session is customised in advance. Through pre-event liaison, the content, examples, and classroom routines are shaped around the needs and interests of the group on that day.
It strengthens core structured literacy instruction while expanding teacher expertise in word-level reading, writing, and vocabulary.
What is unique about this event?
Unlike a traditional course provider in education, I offer attendees access to a dedicated pre-course space on my website before we ever meet in the room. This is a professional, curated environment where participants can submit favourite and troublesome words, raise genuine questions, and connect with other educators who care deeply about language and practice.
Crucially, this access is for life. Long after the workshop ends, attendees remain part of an ever-expanding international community of practice, shaped by conversations from workshops held around the world. It reflects the seriousness, quality, and long-term thinking behind the course itself: learning starts early, continues well beyond the day, and is strengthened through shared professional inquiry.
Who is this for?
primary teachers working within the Irish Primary Language Curriculum who want clearer explanations for spelling and word structure
SET and SEN teachers supporting pupils with persistent reading and spelling difficulties
literacy leads and post-holders responsible for curriculum coherence and instructional consistency
DEIS school teachers looking for approaches that respect students’ time and cognitive load
teachers who have been trained in multiple, sometimes conflicting, literacy approaches and want a framework that actually holds together
educators interested in the Science of Reading but unsure how to translate research into everyday classroom decisions
teachers who are tired of “tips and tricks” and want principled, transferable understanding
If you want professional learning that treats teachers as thinking professionals, this session is designed with you in mind.
