Lexicons for Life
Welcome to the Lexicons for Life pre-course space.
This area is here to support our face-to-face day together.
It’s intentionally simple.
Before we meet, you’re invited to:
share words that regularly cause trouble in your teaching context
browse what others are noticing
talk with colleagues who are thinking about the same issues
There is no expectation that you “prepare” in a formal sense.
You don’t need to read ahead, watch anything, or complete tasks.
If you post nothing at all, that’s fine.
If you post one thing that’s been bugging you for years, even better.
Tricky Words: Let’s Collect the Real Ones
This space is for words that make people say things like:
“Why does this one do that?”
“I never know how to explain this properly.”
“My students always get this wrong.”
When you post, include:
the word
the approximate age or year level
what usually goes wrong (spelling, explanation, rule-based confusion, over-reliance on sounding out, etc.)
There are no wrong contributions here.
If a word has intrigued you, it belongs.
These examples will help shape what we look at together during the day.
