I am a Kindergarten and Primary School qualified teacher who has embarked on the Science of Reading Journey. I am eager to add to my knowledge about all things involved with literacy so I can better support students.
I am an integration aide providing Tier 3 intervention to several groups of students within the year levels Prep and 1. Since I teach Phonological Awareness, I am interested in doing this course and probably move on to the Spelling for Life one in order to equipped myself with the proper skills to better support the students.
Hi,
Gab Pirotta here. I am the Head of Department for Prep and Year 1. I am passionate about being on a continuous learning journey so I can give the teachers in my team the best information and resources, so they are comfortable and confident in teaching in a Structured Literacy model. We have been shifting from a Balanced Literacy model and seeing amazing student success.
Great to have you here, Gab! I love hearing of this type of success. I never hear of the other way round, i.e. going from structured to balanced literacy with the same amazing student success. I wonder why that is.
