Underlying Processes for Reading

Sitting with comprehension in the list of thought processes, rather than teachable skills, there is rapid automatized naming, working memory and processing speed. These things cannot yet be directly taught but can be taken into consideration so that reading and writing are still within reach for people with low scores in some or all of these areas. This section defines each process and its implications for reading.
